Director’s Report

Staff Testimonials

We had nearly 150 responses to the Survey Monkey feedback to the 2016 season.  Rob crunched the numbers and the comments were about 99% positive.  Thanks so much for your wonderful faith in the Kingswood mission.

My happy task on this Monday morning is to start sharing some of the remarks in some sort of categorical organization.  So many families expressed great satisfaction with the quality of the counselors.  Below you can read exact excerpts from parents, edited only for grammar and the elimination of proper names (for the sake of privacy.)  Below that you will find numerous photos showing counselors both at work with and having loads of fun with their charges.  If Kingswood enjoys a top aspect, great staff is it!

Our son has always loved the staff – everyone has such great personality! But this year, as the oldest camper group he loved getting to know his counselors as men…asking about experiences, schools, jobs. It was like a whole new world opened up. This is a place whose staff I would and do trust my son’s life to with no hesitation.

Beautiful property and very nice owners & staff! Thank you for making our son’s first experience at sleep away camp so wonderful!

We were impressed by every single counselor/adult we encountered at Kingswood. Amazing group

At drop-off we met one of our son’s counselors. He made a fantastic first impression. I really felt like this counselor would encourage my son to try new things (Said the counselor: “Of course I will, that’s what camp’s all about.”), and be a kind and warm, mature and reliable counselor. Turns out he was all of those things, plus FUN!

The instructors also did an amazing job of just making fun out of simple games like frisbee golf (my kids are still talking about that) and the egg roll or toss. That’s so important in our day and age to have our children learn that you don’t need anything elaborate or super structured to make or have fun.

My son is very quiet and introverted. His cabin counselors made him feel so comfortable and inclusive. I’ve never seen my kid so independent and confident. Even in what one may consider the “little things.”

At Parents Day I had each of his bunk counselors say something positive to me about his experience and each comment was different. His comments about interactions with staff have been extremely positive.

The counselors were, across the board, outstanding. My boys felt safe and confident. They also found the counselors to be a whole lot of fun. The senior staff are pros. They do an awesome job.

All counselors that lived in my son’s cabin and those who I encountered on campus we extremely polite, always smiled and offered help…something a lot of young people don’t do these days! Their professionalism and all around good nature didn’t go unnoticed!

Rob was always there to answer emails and the pictures and videos were extremely reassuring. And talking to Rob’s mother on the phone was also reassuring.

The attentiveness, friendliness, and enthusiasm of the counselors and staff is *exceptional*. They manage to consistently find the sweet spot of nurturing while helping the campers push their own limits a bit. We’ve heard countless stories from our son that demonstrate how supported and cared-for he felt, while it was clear that the counselors were also offering him opportunities for growth, independence and just the right amount of “struggle”. Perfection.

I thought the maturity, general helpfulness, and positive attitudes of our son’s three counselors in his cabin (and in his activities) were so perfect for a 9 year old boy to be around. What great examples of older boys/men that he had to look up to.
