What is your name?
Rob Horne
How many years have you been at Kingswood / what was your first year at Kingswood?
9 years/1995
How would you describe your role at Kingswood?
Many years ago, I served as a cabin counselor; however, for the past six summers, I have worked as a clinician, activity sponsor, mentor, and as someone willing to pitch in when and where he is needed.
What is your favorite camp memory?
Back in 1997, a gentleman named Jeff Wrangler had this inspired idea that he would run for Congress representing the Granite State. With the assistance of so many excellent individuals at Kingswood, Wrangler was able to spread his message to the entire Baker Valley through the use of Todd Sabiston’s van, the war canoe, and several campers and counselors with a float at the Woodsville Fourth of July Parade.
What makes Kingswood special to you?
Kingswood celebrates some of the greatest joys in my life: friendship, nature, and play/athletics. As a result, Kingswood represents an oasis for me from the gravity of life, and it offers me a refuge to run, play, and laugh with my family and friends. It is a magical place where you can immediately reconnect with old friends and challenge yourself in new and meaningful ways. In closing, I feel that Kingswood is truly one of the greatest gifts offered in this world.
What is your favorite place on campus?
Probably the soccer (lacrosse) field!
What is your favorite A-block offering?
Tough question- probably hiking!
If you were a camper, how would you spend your B-Block?
I would explore the lake in a kayak or canoe!
What is your favorite Kingswood hike / trip?
I have great memories of hiking the Franconia Range many years ago.
What is your favorite Kingswood special event (could be an annual event or a truly special,
we only did it once, event)?
I would probably have to say the Egg Drop, because, as a guest smasher, it is most likely the closest I will get to being a semi-professional hockey player, Roman soldier, or medieval knight.
