I choose to not apologize for a shorter report today than is customary. With over 300 photos from yesterday’s EXTRAVAGANZA posted on the Albums page, we’ve done our fair share to clue you in on the action. I see that Sara’s first entry is titled “Part I,” which assures you that more is forthcoming.
Most pix from this huge file explain themselves save for the so-called “Watermelon Plinko Course of Doom,” the first such gig executed at Kingswood, or anywhere else on the planet, one can safely surmise. Seems that King George III decided to place a tax on watermelons and the rebellious colonists elected to destroy the produce instead of paying up.
I can assure you that not a single sphere survived the downhill course that was laden with sharp objects and other obstacles, all produced by the campers themselves during rest hour. My boyish instincts got the better of me during the event and there I was tossing large sections of fruity carcasses into the crowd where the boys, naturally, devoured the cleaner sections not filled with dirt.
A really nice fireworks display led by Todd Sabiston and his crew of counselors culminated what most agreed was a perfect day at Kingswood.
This morning at breakfast, I detected a relatively subdued gang of campers and counselors who clearly were aware of the massive clean-up which awaited them before regular clinics and a normal day of camp could ensue. I just returned to the office after some errands and was amazed to see how quickly, indeed, folks rose to the occasion.
“Keep Kingswood Beautiful” was a phrase I heard a few days ago and I think the boys have responded very nicely to this plea.
