Director’s Report

Sweeping Dirt (Gnats) Under the Carpet, Not

Today is the day we are going to re-set the grounds for the large group of visitors expected tomorrow afternoon.  As one who likes things tidy, I will be on my high horse and won’t be in any mood to accept short cuts .

One amusing coincidence is that all over New England, people report they have been inundated with gnats, anywhere indoors where water collects and the bugs can lay their eggs.  It has been so dry in normal areas that these are the best available breeding grounds for these pests.  Hit the hardest has been our bathroom facilities (the Unos) where zillions of these creatures have gathered. My vote is to let nature take its course, which I am told lasts only a couple of days, and then clean up the mess.

Said Rob to the campers just now, “Even 5-Star hotels have gnat issues,” whereupon everyone insisted that Kingswood is one of those 5-Star places.

Having reported this issue, I am going to cut this report short and get saddled up to supervise the other chores on the list.
