Sparkler

Sparkler

July 19, 2025

Yesterday started off cold and blustery. I layered up. However, by 2pm when parents were invited to arrive, we were being treated to a beautiful afternoon, a SPARKLER.  Bright blue skies and zero humidity, that’s the formula for such a designation. “I guess I am not that much of a sinner,” I responded to one compliment.

I snapped a couple of pix, for the record. Parents shown were old-time campers, now fathers and grandfathers of Kingswood boys.

Last evening went according to plan. The Love-In featured an autograph session featuring the nicely framed cabin photos, some heartfelt speechifying by both counselors and campers, and two videos of about 30 minutes each, one a video by Morgan M. and the other a slide show by Sara.

There may have been a few tears at breakfast just now as it set in that life in paradise cannot last forever, but the wonderful memories of this fabulous four-week session at Kingswood not only can but will endure the passing of time and recalled as one of the most successful stints in camp history.

I’m off to make my good-byes and absorb the bittersweet feeling I always get when it is all over, for now, as I insist on telling them. “See you next summer.”
