Director’s Report

A Gorgeous July 4

Your sons are happy.  Of that much I am 100% certain.  Each camper received $15 at the Woodsville parade earlier today.  $10 was the maximum at Shaw’s Supermarket, and some lads came out to produce $9.99 sales slips.  Very funny and a good time had by all in the store.  No, those boys did not buy the onions, nor did they seriously consider flowers for mom.

It was blistering hot for the parade, but the boys were both sunblocked to the gills and — well, take a look at all the hydration going on in the photos that follow.  Kingswood’s own float brought up the rear of the parade and was a clever garage sale, with Mike and Mark conning, er, urging the local folks to take some camp junk off out hands.  Well received.

Then it was down the hill to the local community field for lunch and a few side purchases.  Good fun, but exhausting.

Upon getting back to camp at about 2 PM, rest hour was welcomed by everyone and most boys that I asked had actually slept!

California Beach Day down the hill and touch football games up the hill took up the balance of the afternoon hours.

Dinner is any minute now and later on we will torch the huge scrap wood and tree branch pile we have amassed across the road.  Photos on that, no doubt, will appear tomorrow.
