It was a beautiful, albeit cool, after-dinner sponsorship period last night.  By 8:30, it was sufficiently dark that all outdoor activities had concluded and boys had a rare evening with no full-camp gathering at day’s end.  Hence, it was back to the cabins for “hangout” time before lights out.  Tonight we are off to the North Haverhill Fair, which means a late night follows an early one.  Another example of good program planning by our top gurus.

First, I fell upon a golf outing with Scott demonstrating a perfect pitch shot with Sebastian strapped to his tummy.  Indeed, keeping your arms away from the body is one way to execute good golf swings.

A ton of racket up by the nature lodge revealed a group assembling gear prior to an overnight hike to Sunset Point across the lake.  Later, we got in the speedboat and tracked them down as the trail came down to the water’s edge.  They must have seen the same sunset I did, the one pictured in the last photo.  I love it that we can have such fantastic campouts without even having to put boys into a vehicle.

Lots of casual games were going on up the hill — the perfect solution to the more structured clinic periods of earlier in the day.  Every game was spirited nonetheless, and “capture the cumbersome object” had moments of hilarity as the two teams rumbled over possession of the coveted mattress.

Meanwhile, lakeside, Klaus and company engaged a shivering gang in a Kingswood staple — Tarleton Tennis — the object of which is quite obvious by the photos below.  That these boys were still at it when the sun nearly had set is testament to the great drawing power of our many creative — Kingswood only — games.  No question but that kids are the happiest when participating in contests where some score is being kept, but not in any way seriously!
