Tis The Season
The holiday season is in full swing with holiday music now playing on the radio and the weather starting to get cold. Thanksgiving has passed and now people are look forward to the December holidays. Whether they celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, or even New Years, many people like to show they care during this time of year by giving gifts to the ones they love. With all the pressure from companies to buy material things we’d like to offer an “outside the box ” suggestion for families searching for holiday gift ideas. Thinking about the perfect gift for someone takes time and effort, you can’t just buy them a pair of socks and call it a day. If you do want to buy socks as a holiday gift you have to think what’s their shoe size, what colors do they like, is this for sneakers or is this for hiking or skating or just wearing around the house like slippers.
Holiday Gift Giving
The amount of thought that goes into a holiday gift is what really makes gift giving special- the act of taking time out of your day to make sure you recognize the people important to you. So why get a simple gift that you know will be used up and discarded? It is important to think about what is meaningful to people that we love and use that as the basis to select the gift that is right for them. Some holiday gifts are about being together– such as a skiing trip for the family over winter break. Other gifts are about the experience of trying something new and the memory associated with it. If, while you are on your skiing trip, you get your son snowboarding lessons, then he will remember the gift every time he straps into the board.
The Gift of Kingswood Camp for Boys
A session at Kingswood Camp for Boys embodies the idea of spending time together and giving the gift of a new experience! That’s why we suggest giving the gift of camp to your son. While your son is at camp he is going to meet friends that he will keep for the rest of his life! Talk about spending time with meaningful people! They may not be family, but as they say “friends are the family you choose for yourself”, and the boys who come to Kingswood are a great bunch of guys! Going to summer camp for the first time can be slightly frightening but it is an experience that your son will never forget because he will be meeting new people, trying tons of new activities, and making memories that will last his entire lifetime. What could be a more thoughtful gift to give to your son this holiday season?
Lastly, from all of us here at Kingswood Camp for Boys, we hope that you have a happy holiday season and that you are able to spend time with those you love, because time together is more important than any gift!
