Kids like both the breaks in the routine, plus the routine itself. Come to think of it, kids have it pretty good, eh? Anyway, yesterday saw a return to the normal rhythms of camp life, and this director, at least, was happy with the outcome.
Clinics ran at their regular time …
with the usual good, and oftentimes one-on-one, instruction…
and the perpetual good banter.
It was a coolish day, so the lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup was welcomed by one and all.
After rest hour, A Block featured some standard Kingswood games such as Quidditch.
If you do not get this one, then you have not read your Harry Potter.
At dinner, the Birthday Tsar was up to his old tricks…
while the Baychester Blues Band practiced for their evening council fire performance.
Ah, but first things first…
as Stealth, or capture-the-flag in the woods, was the main evening event before the fireside meeting.
By 8:30, Stealth and other games had concluded as darkness settled in.
Ron and Simon made sure the fire was fully roaring by that time.
The boys listened politely to a batch of very old camp stories told by yours truly…
as well as were extremely appreciative of the musical efforts by both Spanky’s band and Paul’s solo.
After the camp song and Taps are sung, TK dismissed the boys by cabin group…
who — believe it or not — walked quietly up the hill while the older boys got to linger about the dying embers of the campfire. To me, this always is a touching moment and very good camp!
