Director’s Report

A Setting Made for Huck Finn

I am teased for my bombastic reviews and general exaggeration.  But, I am not that far off when I suggest that yesterday had a Huck Finn quality about it.

For example, we detached the fishing dock and anchored it in the middle of the lake.  The boys had a blast playing various Marco Polo types of games.

I doubt Huck knew anything about cricket, but he would have loved the shenanigans associated with this free-flowing game.

Frisbee games, too, have that devil-may-care flavor as does any game played in the mud or involves adapting clothing not to mom’s specifications! (Tie-dye clinic shown)

I made the mistake of advertising Mt. Cardigan to be a junior hike, when the steep climb up the Holt Trail is more like a true Varsity Club endeavor.  Mike Wiff treated all the boys to a swim in Newfound Lake after the successful summit bid.

Ah, but the fishing.  That’s what Huck would have liked best.  A gentle catch and release outing happens every evening off the docks and in boats/playaks.

Lastly, there is Sara doing her photographic gig, in preparation for publishing her 2013 First Session yearbook.  You still have plenty of time to buy a copy.  swipfler@gmail.com
