The new site is up and running, almost smoothly already, thanks to Rob, Becky, Sara, Mike, Cristin and Debbie from Bethesda Design Web. All deserve a plug for their fabulous efforts. It took longer for the site to propagate than we thought it would. I count myself a bit of a wordsmith, but would never have guessed that one meaning of the word “propagate” is “the time, in days, one waits for a new website to become fully functional.” Ditto for the word “cache,” one of its meanings being “a refreshing tool in computers which allows a new site to replace an old one.” Hence this order to you in today’s Blues Buster: “Be patient while the new site propagates and meanwhile be sure to refresh your cache.”
For parents: Go right away to the bottom of the Home Page and click into Kingswood Blues Busters. There at top right is the prompt for you to Follow Bob via Email. (No, I will not be Twittering you with details of my lunch…) This fabulous update allows you to add as many emails as you please to the regular email distribution list. Just as importantly, it allows you to UN subscribe to my drivel once you have reached the saturation point. Come summer, especially, family relatives, friends and acquaintances can follow the action during the time boys are at camp. Just for fun, click on the “V” right next to Kingswood Blues Busters at bottom of the home page. Of course there are no videos there now, but come summer you will really become a “fly on the wall” once Rob and others start posting videos of Kingswood in action. You might want to click on the “F” right next to the “V” and say you “like” the Kingswood Facebook page — even more stuff will be posted there. For a bit of time, anyway, I will continue to send reports to your email boxes as I have been doing for years. But, soon, once everybody has registered to receive all our Blues Busters, blogs and videos – I will end this archaic and somewhat clumsy procedure of emailing you with updates.
For parents and boys: Have fun getting lost in the site. There are now over 140 pages posted and nearly every one of them is laced with photos – many of Sara’s best ones, with a few taken by Kiera and maybe even yours truly. Note that many of the galleries become slide shows if you click on any photo in the group. One day recently, when I was supposed to be proofreading text, I instead became absorbed in one of the galleries for a long time. I hope this happens to you, too.
Lastly, send along your feedback – both good and bad. We think the home page needs some adjusting (less text) and that change may be coming along very soon. If you find typos or confusing statements or anything else of note, please let us know. Enjoy the new site and be sure to tell others all about it.
Ha ha! I love the idea of you “Twittering the details” of your lunch! Although I do believe the proper use of that verb would be “tweeting”. 🙂
In all seriousness, I love the way the blog looks in my email. Very sharp!
