I could, and one day likely will, write a book on the significance of the relationship between impressionable kids and their camp counselors. Done properly, children do not even realize they are being preached to when if fact that is precisely what is happening some of the time.
I doubt that numerous pearls of wisdom were being spread about the picnic grounds during last evening’s supper. But, as I began to notice so many counselors choosing to sit next to boys at the picnic tables, it dawned on me that the process of older-to-younger mentoring was occurring, but on such a sublime level as to be imperceptible to most innocent observers.
We have fabulous role models as staff here at camp, a source of great comfort and satisfaction to Kingswood’s management.
