Director’s Report

Cheap Bits

Bow & Arrow Week is as much about our community sense of humor as it is a spirited sports competition.  There are no extra points to be gained by producing clever skits in the dining room.  In fact, most of the “cheap bits,” as we call them, have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Bow & Arrow.   That green creepy crawler shown below is the “Minch who stole Christmas” and you can readily discern how that one was received.

The back and head rubs go on continuously and the racket is so loud in the dining room that we older folks appealed to Charmion to set out an additional food tray for the porch, and thus out of the direct line of fire.

But, we all race back indoors while the bits are performed.  Those last two photos  show Nick the Birthday Tsar doing his level best to burn up Connor’s cake.  It was one of the funniest birthday skits ever, and I was thrilled that Connor himself appreciated the incredible humor.  Honestly, I laughed myself to sleep last night while playing back this and some of the other bits of the day.   I understand that I am a reasonably proficient camp director in that  I can observe the world through children’s eyes about as well as the next guy.
