Even with touch football tournament games going on, or a competitive chess match, evenings are the most relaxed part of the day at Kingswood. Generally speaking, counselors sponsor activities they personally enjoy and can participate in themselves. Indeed, the lifeguard who has spent the day on the waterfront is likely to offer World Cup soccer while the soccer coaches are taking out boats and canoes. The boys are free to go to one activity and then another, and back to the first one, if they please. Darkness always seems to settle in too soon for anyone’s liking. Evenings are a great time to be at camp!
Long shadows… ambient sunset colors…and a certain air of frivolity…highlight the mood of evenings at Kingswood.Oh, where would we be as a community without frisbees?Boys even wade into the lake to retrieve them in rounds of frisbee golf.Standard games like touch football…tennis…and basketball are sponsored several nights a week. But, our creative juices start to flow…and Catch 22 — football on the mini-nets of Pines Field …and “Capture the Cumbersome Object” …or “Packer-ball,” a wild take on kickball, provide hilarious relief from the norm. Many a leisure game is offered…and boys flock towards the Nature Room…or Mother T on a calm evening…to celebrate legitimate tranquility after an active day.So, take your pick among Stealth — hide-and-go-seek in the woods…or cricket…or Beach tennis…or fishing off the dock:One thing is undeniably accurate —Kingswood is the place to be come evening-time.
