Football Champions! Congratulations are in order to the New England Patriots and their fans, from which the Kingswood community supplies quite a few. In honoring them in today’s Blues Buster, we offer the following: The game was a “pick ’em” in Vegas. Matt blindfolded had just as good a chance of picking the winner as anyone in America. At stake, of course, was the coveted Lombardi Trophy. (Can you see the resemblance?) Before kick-off, there was plenty of hype about Tom Brady’s legacy. (Not that I saw any of it – I make it a point not to turn on the tube until kick-off.) Everyone settled in at a good party or tailgate… Naturally, you had to sit through a lengthy injury report. The Legion of Boom (Seahawk’s secondary) was banged up going into the game. But, eventually the pre-game hoopla ended with Belichick and Carroll meeting at mid-field for the “good luck” handshake. Chris Matthews made some amazing catches to spark the Seahawk’s attack. There was a one-handed catch by Shane Vereen. Richard Sherman made sure everyone knew he was #1. Gronk for a touchdown pass. Katy Perry has nothing on these guys! Marshawn Lynch rumbles for a first down. Julian Edelman was catching passes left and right. So was Danny Amendola. The game lived up to the hype and will go down in SuperBowl history as an all-time classic. Lynch was unstoppable and got the Seahawks to the one yard line in the final seconds… whereupon an interception by rookie Malcolm Butler sealed the victory for the Patriots. The conclusion of the game brought all the typical mayhem and celebration. The Lombardi Trophy returns to Foxborough.
