From Egg Drop to Lake Swim

August 1, 2026

Actually, From Egg Drop to Lake Swim comprised the end of July to the start of August. The former ended late and swimmers were in the water shortly after 7 am to swim across Lake Tarleton and back. Knowing all this ahead of time, breakfast was served at 8:30 and most boys got an extra half hour sleep out of the deal. I think photos will be posted today that feature both traditional Kingswood events. Personally, I slept through both of them!

I did finish up my morning office work yesterday morning in time to head out and check in on some of the clinics. The camp administration spends a lot of time working with younger counselors to aid them in developing crisp and effective lesson plans. Feedback comes nearly immediately and every report on this process has revealed appreciation on the part of the less experienced hands.

A few notes from my photo offering just posted:

Rowing those shells is no easy thing and I was pleased to see some good one-on-one teaching taking place.

Anderson was running a fitness clinic that attracted my grandchildren as much as it did the boys. I did not get the idea on the rings until I witnessed the kids tossing bean bags and racing to retrieve the hoops they got into. Clever.

We have yet to fully develop the area in the vicinity of the power lines coming down what I call the “back forty.” It was funny to see the frisbee clinic going up the hill and the golfers playing downhill. As always happens, each group accommodated the other and no one got in anyone else’s way.

By the way, those golf holes while short in distance are quite difficult and whether or not boys realize it, they are practicing predicaments they will often encounter in the real deal.

I enjoyed observing the boxing segment of the fitness clinic. Max and Lukas gave the boys a good workout along with a steady stream of advice and encouragement.

I always request lacrosse players to give me stern looks when I take photos of their clinics.

I am running late today so will make this blog shorter. Keep your eye open for additional photo albums posted during the day.
