“Off with those mud shoes, boys!”

Indeed we are nestled beneath Piermont Mountain and get lots of its runoff. However, we dry out exceptionally well, tot, and yesterday’s photos bear testimony that everything turns back to normal pretty rapidly for us. While some of my photos might appear to be without purpose or good cropping, what I want to show you are some landscapes of a nearly dried out grounds as well as cloud conditions going from dark to puffy to almost none by day’s end.
As you can see from her photos, Sara got around to several clinics in the morning. You have to chuckle along with me as boys truly enjoy practicing capsizing maneuvers during the sailing instruction periods. In my photos you can be a witness to a sailing “rescue,” which happens any time the boys get stuck out there on the lake. Of course, we let boys get into predicaments on purpose for how else are they going to learn?
It was a hot day and muggy, too, and we had a heavy shower during lunch that had me thinking déjà vu, but it was brief, thankfully. I can see why Sara wanted to be on the water since that is where a majority of the boys elected to spend their afternoon blocks of time.
No question but that yesterday was our initial foray over to the Rope Swing on the opposite shore from Kingswood. Deemed too shallow for safe jumping, we waited until Nature altered that formula in our favor. My guess is that we will try to get lots of kids over there in the next few days.
Conditions were ideal for the picnic supper down by the lake. Have you ever remarked that “there is no temperature at all” to describe an outdoor scenario? One Wipfler, Rob, sensed the casual mood and let the picnic linger, while another Wipfler, Mike, was busily operating a taxi service for the boys’ gear down to Pirates’ Cove.
Scott Neff manned the sponsorship board in the Council Circle, announcing a ton of variety. Remember, it is the counselors who make these after-dinner activities work well. I fell in with “speed chess” and was highly entertained. At the same time another round of Lutherball was happening on the tower and docks. So good.
I see in the newspapers that the entire eastern part of the country is considered to be in a draught, ranging from mild (us here in New Hampshire) to dire (not that far away.) And when Andy and Rob Horne hauled out all the children’s sand toys in yet another sponsorship, they had a nice turnout of enthusiastic beach repairmen.
