Director’s Report

“POLAR BEAR!!!”

My first all-caps headline of the summer.  POLAR BEAR is that raucous start to the day when boys come down to the waterfront at 7:30 sharp to take a brisk plunge into the lake.  “One-third of the camp participated today,” remarked Bill, with glee.  I doubt we’ll sustain that fraction as (a) the weather is forecast to cool off, and (b) just wait until we tire these guys out, completely, within a couple of days.  But, for today, we had a hoot watching the boys holler “POLAR BEAR!!!” at the top of their lungs while jumping off the tower.   Note to Helen and Erwin:  Jacob was indeed a bit shocked to find himself 27th in line — this a guy who has never missed a Polar Bear dip in three years — but allow me to assure you things will eventually settle down with Jacob successfully reasserting his status as Number One Polar Bear.  (You are safe, at least until my grandson, Liam, comes of age.)
