Potpourri

August 2, 2026

Sunday morning is slow down time here at Kingswood, as like from 100 miles per hour to 90 miles per hour! Breakfast again was a half-hour later than usual at 8:30.

I was on hand to photo each of the 22 tables, results findable right now in the albums. Some fellows were up at the salad bar or counter and are not pictured. No calls to the police over missing persons, please!

The general name for the time between now and lunch is “Deep Clean” or “Deep Scrub.” I will grab some pix of the first part of this operation, where boys take trunks outside the cabin for a complete overhaul as well as head down to the infirmary picnic table to get nails clipped. While there, many wash out water bottles. Somebody remembered to order the special brushed needed for this task.

Mike has not yet posted the questions for today’s cabin meetings, which commence at 11:00. I will make an addenda to this letter later on.

At noon, we assemble as a full camp to go over the best ideas coming out of cabin meetings as well as offer an overview of the week coming up.

Check back on this blog sometime before noon.

ADDENDA 11:00am

“How does this work?” inquired one lad at the fingernail clippers station.  Drew, age 35 – Kingswood summers = 35) shows off his new doggie who diverted attention to bottle-washing, as could be expected.

I have placed more photos of “Deep Scrub” in today’s RIGHT NOW album. Go back to it to observe the above-mentioned brouhaha. “A noisy and overexcited reaction” is this word’s meaning and it applies every day at camp.  One of my favorite vocabulary words.

Klaus has posted the cabin discussion agenda and I posted a screenshot of the 4 topics to be considered. Mike, Rob, Klaus and others will ask for campers, especially, to stand up at full camp meeting to express the highlights. Some might even stick!
