RESET

RESET

August 7, 2024

Those of you who have been keeping up with these blogs know that the Kingswood property has taken some punches in the past few days, but we are on the rebound.

I include photos of both our tree man and the dock installer, who came out immediately upon our request. These are “good friends of the camp” who take our best interests to heart. Thanks so much to them.

Mike Fusco and Adam Miller are the Kingswood maintenance team and they, too, have worked tirelessly in these past few days. “I have mud oozing down into my socks,” laughed Adam as he sunk into the grime!

Look. We are in no danger whatever and the boys actually enjoyed playing in the rain and jumping into puddles. However, we want the grounds to look as if nothing had happened come Friday, when so many of you will be visiting.  So, instead of simply postponing working on erosion issues until next summer, the community has elected to “Reset” as if it were June instead of August.

We called for a load of sand to be dumped on the beach and maybe should not have bothered to spread it as the boys had so much fun playing in it. Sam even ran his windsurfing clinic atop the pile.

Then, the Guides volunteered for raking and shovel duty at the Bubbler area where it was most needed.  Lucky them, as their day off ensued and they went off to Hanover for hanging out and a movie.

We assured the boys that nicer weather was on the way and the sun has melted the early morning fog as I write these words. Two hikes are going out and these will be the last treks of the summer. It has been a terrific hiking season with many summits conquered.

Sara has continued to click away and even featured young Mac Rudisill, who caught not the biggest fish, but the tiniest whopper of the summer. The boys indeed will continue to play hard right up to the end of camp.
