Six Photo Albums

Six Photo Albums

July 17, 2005

There are six new albums for you this morning. Sara wants you to know that the end is near for her photo presentations in that she has but two days to get the cabin photos framed (a new gift for each camper to bring home,) her slide show ready to present tomorrow night at the “Love-in” and the second session album of campers arriving on Sunday.

Anyway, start with her album of July 16 which reveals that she was awake early to accompany the 15 or so Lake Swimmers on their mission across the lake and back. The times ranged from 35 minutes or so for Max B. to an amazing one hour and forty minutes for Quentin M. Both boys received merited applause just now at breakfast.

Next comes the Liberty/Flume hike. Wow, they had marvelous blue skies and you can get a good feel for the exhilaration boys feel upon completing this sort of quest. We also tangled with the isolated twin peaks of Mt. Hancock yesterday and with that hike under his belt, camper Gavin H. joined the rarified company of those who have achieved “Presidential” status in the Varsity Club. I’ve seen the photos so I can assure you they will be posted, too, at some point.

For about the umpteenth time this summer, a group if kids paddled over to Pirates Cove for an overnight campout. This place has it all, and I see no reason to drive anywhere in search of anything better. A sunset swim followed by s’mores always gets the job done well.

Dubbed the “Connecticut River” fishing trip, Todd and his boys first paddled up the Waits River which flows into the Connecticut at nearby Bradford, Vermont. But, there were so many great catches on the Waits that the anglers never made it to the confluence. Not only that but young camper Henry U. landed the biggest whopper of the summer. The beast weighed in at five pounds. There are photos galore coming soon to the albums.

Knowing all these photo reports were in the making, I waited until the sepia colors of evening to grab my phone camera and head up towards the stage for the final concert of the session, always a festive affair with both great music and raffles of Kingswood swag to  campers and counselors alike. I photoed five of the winners. Can you find them?

As it would be, on my way to the concert I fell in with a most spirited group who had captured a gaggle of wood spiders with some sort of plan to watch them fight each other. No animals were injured, human or otherwise, and I brushed it off as harmless entertainment. However, I preferred the following super entertainment provided by Oliver, Spanky and the rest of the Kingswood music department.
