July 9 is Taylor’s birthday. Nick the Birthday Tsar is on staff. This makes for a lethal combination and subject to great anticipation as the day wore onwards towards the ice cream and cake celebration after the supper picnic. Here’s the skinny on the day:
Such an innocent start on July 9…
as morning clinics went smoothly …
involving good instruction…
as well as the normal amount of enthusiasm.
It was a beautiful day on the waterfront. Yes, parents, that is your son pictured here.
The rowing clinic got slightly tangled…
with the golf clinic! Normal.
Wednesdays feature a leftover picnic at lunch and a cookout for dinner. Boys really enjoy these events.
Rest hour is a needed time out for everyone, excepting Sebastian.
The afternoon went well, as did the picnic, run by older campers. While the Guides were cleaning up from supper, their “reserved” seats were gobbled up by Guide-wannabees!
and all settled in for the evening announcements …
which gave way to the advent of the Birthday Tsar. He always starts with a frenzied cheer…
only this time to follow with a splashy stomp through the mud…
that hit its intended target!
The birthday boy was summoned. Seems that Taylor does some camp cooking on the side and Nick wanted to return the compliment…
with a certain amount of spice added for good measure.

as the crowd loved every exasperating swallow…
up to and including…
the delivery of the cake itself. “Old Bay Seasoning cake for one and ice cream for the rest of you,” was the tsar’s final edict!
