Weekend Review We had an enjoyable weekend, pell-mell with activity some of the time and laid back at other moments. Here is a brief summary of the action: “Chain Gang” details were dispatched to the beach to put sand back where it belonged. Indeed, we drafted all able bodied individuals to include grandchildren (Liam Wipfler), visitors (Xan’s brother) and … some convicts from the local penitentiary. Seriously, the boys are always happy to lend a hand. Since we had a continental breakfast on Sunday, the nurses (Karyn and Karen) made the med rounds to the boys in the cabins — Kingswood humor being paramount! After camp meeting yesterday, the boys hustled to dinner (at lunch hour) as the Temple of Smoke had wafted some enticing aromas throughout the grounds. Several hikes went out yesterday afternoon, given the spectacular weather. These boys overnighted on Webster Mountain, overlooking Lake Tarleton and the rampart of Mt. Moosilauke. And, while Saturday had featured a number of inter camp tournaments, that did not deter too many boys from the ball fields last evening. However, a certain lightheartedness prevailed… and I got a good chuckle out of watching the trash ball game. Two balls in play and two barrels to guard made for some surprise surges and counterattacks! These younger boys engaged in NBA-style challenges. The Cayman golf course was open for play (collared shirts required) … while Joseph and others rollicked in the ever-popular beach tennis game… and fishermen took to the quiet part of the lake to test their patience. The weekly inspection party concluded the day and this morning, we awoke to the happy realization that there will be more ice cream today as John & Alex celebrate their big day with the entire camp group.
