After a second deluge last evening, we awoke to much much cooler conditions, which were magnified yet again at the parade in nearby Woodsville, usually an inferno on the Fourth, but cozy and comfortable this time around:
The boys had a standing inspection, due to the need to start the clean-up process after the storms. Nonetheless, all campers where prompt to board the buses at about 9:30 am.
Our destination was the Wal mart parking lot in Woodsville, twenty minutes north of camp.
Regular campers received $15 for the day while the CIT’s got lots more than that, their weekly allowance for working the dining room counter.
Toothpaste and shampoo were NOT on anyone’s shopping list at the supermarket next to the parade group.
We found a great grassy spot just down the street from the grocery store …
where there was room for the entire camp to sit together. I’ll bet most of you can find yours in one of these two pix.
Shortly after 11 am, the parade appeared. Captain America, our own Mark, was not on the official parade roster. But that did not deter him from escorting the entourage from start to finish!
The highlight for our kids — and, being truthful — and just about all other observers…
was the Kingswood float. The skinny: Scott and Raven got hitched.
After the parade, the busses took us down to the Woodsville community park for lunch and other amusements associated with the holiday.
For many, lunch consisted of soda…
and MORE candy!
Oh, let them have their way on this one day.
The hang out was fun for all…
as kids of all ages strengthened those friendship bonds…
with little guys sticking it to the big guys …
and (that’s my foot) the other way around.
