“Yeah, that’s him”

Storms were heading our way yesterday but as you can see from Sara’s photo album, they did not force the cancellation of morning clinics.
Kingswood has really good Frisbee clinics and it is no wonder that seldom do we lose an Ultimate Frisbee game to another camp.
Only Sara could turn a tent-building session into a decent photo op!
At about 3:00 it poured heavily, with only a single rumble of thunder and no lightning. Horray! You can see the hastily generated activity board that went into effect as soon as the showers passed, which was pretty fast.
All of the intercamp games were postponed, perhaps to be made up later, which is a fair bargain as far as I am concerned. I’d rather see boys participating in a fishing derby – an activity that most could never join at home.
I got a huge kick out of Todd and Owen H. moving from dock to dock in an effort to measure the length of each catch, regardless of size. “3 ½ inches,” said Todd to one angler, “and that extra ½ inch might be the difference.” Then Owen F. reeled in the best catch of the day. Photos galore. Sara was on hand for the award ceremony, as the same trophy was presented for the fourth or fifth time this summer.
Tchoukball is a rebound game that is somewhat counter-intuitive as it does not pay to try and block an opponent from slamming the ball into the net. Instead, catch it. Chook (phonetic) is very popular once boys discover it.
About Don’s bear made out of discarded wood chips from the furniture store:. Kids kept bumping their heads on the beast when its head was titled into the porch area. So,Don made it more upright. On this same visit, Don informed me that the furniture administrators loved the photos he sent so much that they are sending their ad team over to make a commercial!
I saw Harrison holding a pitcher of water at arm’s length and hastened over to learn that this was the “pitcher holding championship” promoted in the A-Block column. 2 minutes and change was Harrison’s time and I think that number held up as the best.
By 6 pm the weather had changed its mind two or three times and the plan to have the visiting girls from Camp Wa-Klo to have a picnic supper were scrapped. Everybody dined indoors and I ate at my cabin as well, avoiding the madhouse that must have ensued.
I included in my photo-hunt a few shots taken from a wide angle and at some distance. “Yeah, that’s him” refers to my reply to any of you who might inquire if your son is visible.
