Scott Shupe carefully selects an appropriate song to be played over the PA system each morning, followed by a brief announcement, sometimes informative but always humorous. Brave souls venture down to the waterfront for “Polar Bear Dip.” Several lifeguards watch as campers jump into the outer crib and swim to the dive tower. Each waits his turn to climb to the top and scream “POLAR BEAR!” while jumping into the air. The administrative staff meets on the porch of the Main Lodge to discuss plans for the day. We have a great rapport with the screeching boys!
