Director’s Report

End of (non) Camp 2020

Old Man Moosilauke was in a lousy mood on the Saturday that camp would have ended.  He must have been making a statement regarding his displeasure on the (non) camp outcome for this summer.

His mood brightened a lot the next day, when the countdown to summer 2021 officially commenced.

You’ll be happy to see the boats covered for the winter, as that means camp is over and you will be missing out on nothing from now until next June.  Actually, these two craft never left this spot all summer long…

nor did the Tower. (NEWSBREAK:  A near-exact replica of this beast will bless the far end of the new dock system next summer.)

But, these creeps have been on the prowl all summer long and I could wring their necks — twice even! (There’s poop just about everywhere on the grass.) Wish you had been here to scare them off.

Linda and Mike Fusco enjoyed the beach, but not alone, one fine morning…

before work started, whereby Mike and Spanky revealed their better sides.

No game today, one would guess!

Say one last good-bye to the hoops apparatus as all-new basketball structures will be installed within the next couple of weeks.  Re-paving of the surface can wait until next spring.  By June, all will be ready for a great basketball summer.

Kiera did a fantastic job of refinishing all of the cabins signs.  Now, you can read them, anyway.  Some of the old ones will be saved for the wall of the ping-pong room.

She even found time to “re-whiten” the letters of the camp sign!

And, while Mrs. Wiff has relished time with her granddaughters…

Baby Anya clearly being the center of attention (and, yes, she looks a lot like her father) …

Mr. Wiff has had dreams of wringing human necks now and again, along with the geese.

Honestly, however, Sam had a terrific summer as he performed so many duties it would be fruitless to try to list them.  This photo has historical significance since every summer for years on end, we have taken a photo of Sam, along with brothers Charlie and Peter, from this very seat in the Council Circle.

Sara even used Sam as a guinea pig for some new “double exposure” photos that will most assuredly be featured next summer.

So, the moon is rising — not setting — over Mother Tarleton and that should give all of us great satisfaction looking forward to next time.
