The Best Seat in the House

The Best Seat in the House

July 7, 2024

“The Best Seat in the House.”  I am willing to argue that this distinction goes to you!  300 plus staff photos, Sara’s normal take on the day and my RIGHT NOW selections make you into quite the fly on the wall.  If, perchance, your son does not appear in a single photo from these batches, email me at wiffs5@gmail.com and I will go photo-find him for you!

After all that hand wringing about the weather yesterday, those morning showers were the last drops of the day until well after bedtime, when the heavens opened again. In hindsight, we wished we had gone ahead with the games with Pemi, but, as Mike put it, “Who wants to be driven all the way over there just to be driven back home.?”  I agree with the sentiment. Those games can be rescheduled, I am confident.

By lunchtime, we were fairly confident that the games of the afternoon could go on, though admin types could be seen with air horns in their pockets, just to be sure. It was a gorgeous afternoon and I celebrated by swimming several laps in our lanes between the Main Dock and the Fishing Dock. Exhilarating! Every boy spent time in the water, I am certain.

The setting was perfect for the picnic supper down by the water and no one seemed in any rush to clear the tables and get on with the program.  Even when we did, the mood was laid back and casual.  Just what the boys needed, as all the admin and especially the nurses have yearned for.

Today looks to be another beauty and I have to make this blog short so I can get up the hill and in position to welcome the 20 or so new arrivals.  The good news about this is that nearly all of these boys are experienced Kingswood hands and will be here for the final five weeks of the summer.

I just heard that the ice cream party, scheduled for nightfall, has been moved to 3PM to allow for cold treats at the height of the heat, which to us is mid-80’s but a cold snap by most of your standards!

Off I run.  Enjoy the day,
