Leaden Skies
July 25, 2024
Dark gray clouds won the entire day on Wednesday. Sara complained several times about how leaden skies leave her less than enthusiastic about taking photos. I just now looked at her latest album and think it is terrific. Despite the coloring of the day, it was cool and comfortable and boys quickly got into the rhythm of whatever activity they were doing.
It was almost an entirely out-of-doors day despite the constant threat of rains, which came most intermittently, thus allowing for nearly all activities to proceed as scheduled. With no hot sun as a deterrent, loads of boys showed up for tag games (Sharks and Minnows?) on the ball field.
Smaller, but no less enthusiastic, bunches of boys could be found on the soccer pitch, the basketball court and tennis courts, the latter of which have been heavily used for pickleball contests. Look at all those smiles at all the venues!
We had our first picnic supper down by the lake and there was enough variety of options to satisfy any palate.
The assorted photos album confuses me a bit, since there seems to be no way to get the pics to render in a chronological order. We certainly did not see the sun at all yesterday (first photos) and those sailing photos at the end are old ones, too. But, do come back to this album to see of any new photos have been added.
I think the sun will make a triumphant return today. The lineup of activities announced at breakfast was amazing. Two hikes are going out, one an overnight in the Franconia Range (great mountains) and another a day hike to Black Mountain, which offers a great bang for your buck of toil.
Fishermen are off to Indian Pond later in the day. As Todd announced at breakfast, we tend to get lots of great catches at this favorite haunt.
And, the senior girls from Camp Waklo will arrive at about the dinner hour for an evening soiree. This tradition goes back many years as the ladies spend the night in the game room. I’ve never heard a single complaint about hard floors dampening anyone’s enthusiasm.
