Hunkering Down

We just got back from a 7- hour drive to find the entire camp bracing for a siege or something like that.

Soon I learned that heavy rains earlier had eventually taken the novelty off the gathering between intermediates of both Kingswood and WaKlo at Winslow State Park, somewhere south of here and north or the girls’ camp. “It threw us off our normal balance,” said Nicolina, the first soul I encountered ¾ of the way down the hill from the parking lot. We had not gotten a drop on the car ride, so I was a bit flummoxed by her report.

Soon I ran into several groups of campers happily engaged in activities that do not happen every day and perhaps not at all this session, yet! With just a few days to go in the first four-week tenure, this scheduling adjustment suddenly felt like the perfect solution.

“We are pumping the iron to get in shape for the dance tonight with Merriwood” allowed a couple of those two-timers I found in the weight room.

Over in the Roost, Don and George were letting boys both work on individual wood projects and that giant bear made out of wood slices seemed to have doubled in size in the short time we were out of town.

Both the game room and the Great room of the Main Lodge had plenty of customers playing board games, ping-pong and pool. It wasn’t until last that I found a large group playing trivia games while being led by Sam and Zoe. They were having lots of fun!

Right now the weather radar seems to confirm that we will get hit with some showers tonight, so let’s leave it that we’re happy tp be home safe, dry and able to get this post off to you as per promised.
