It’s been a busy fall up at the Kingswood campus! In addition to the exciting improvements we showcased in a similar report a several weeks ago, we are now ready to share with you a major project we have been working on all fall- a complete overhaul of the camp’s septic system. While it may not be as exciting to some as the addition of new sailboats (we are working on that too, actually, so stay tuned), having good infrastructure is crucial. The Wipfler family is in this for the LONG TERM and we have decided to invest in an important upgrade.

Fortunately, we have plenty of space for our three new dispersal fields, which we began clearing not long after camp ended. This field is behind the music room, or Seasick Crocodile Recording Studio, as it is more commonly called. Miles is inspecting.

Designer Chris Leister and I have worked closely since early August on this project.

Head of Maintenance Dan Bixby has been working on and overseeing the project. Here, Dan admires some of his handiwork.

Jerry Vanasse has made many trips up to camp this fall to lend his vast knowledge of the Kingswood infrastructure. Notice his cabin and the Mail Room in the background of the upper septic field.

We are using top of the line pretreatment tanks. 

This will all be buried and will then be seeded. By camp you may never even know it’s there! Notice the weight room at the back right.

Can you guess the building on the left? It’s the Hilly Uno! We are looking forward to finding creative uses for our new fields- expanded frisbee or caymen golf holes? Croquet? Horseshoes? Once this area is cleaned up and covered with green grass, it will be a beautiful camp spot.
