“The Staff is Everything”

So commenceth the Staff Manual, that quintessential booklet now up to 120 pages of Kingswood rules, procedures, philosophies and don’t you dares. Of course, we are nothing without the campers, but it has to begin with a great batch of counselors, all of whom “buy in” to the way we do things here.

It dawned on me yesterday that sometimes the staff folks get the short end of the stick in the photo presentations, so my 40 plus photos just published are an endeavor meant to reveal as many of them as I could find in a twenty minute stroll about the grounds yesterday afternoon.

The Counselor photos week 2 album shows a bit of everything from sunrise over Mt Moosilauke to sunset over the Moose Scoops ice cream stand. I like the series of photos from the Webster Cliff overnight that starts with the cooking of dinner at the summit camping spot.

I am seen telling some very old (1950’s) Camp Norway stories just before a short but heavy shower drove all of us indoors pell-mell. The kids having s’mores at the Great Room fireplace were hustled back to camp from Pirate Cove and finally got their deserved treats.

Speaking of treats, today is the Big One, with each camper receiving $10 in “Kingswood Kash” (In Wiff We Trust) for a shopping spree, the first round coming up in half an hour. Both Sara and I will be snapping pix all day long. She wants me to let you know that her efforts will be in the thousands (honestly) and it will be much later before her albums are posted. I will be doing more than one RIGHT NOW, so please check the albums every so often. I’ll aim for 10:30 for the initial onslaught.
