This very minute at Kingswood

Sunday is reorganization day at Kingswood.  I’ll paste the schedule below.  Keep scrolling to the four photos just taken this very minute.  You can witness our “continental breakfast” going on, with mostly the young boys in early attendance.  The exception is the older boys making sandwiches and packing gear for the three-day hike in the northern extremities of the White Mountain National Forest.  It has been quite some time since we have done Mt. Cabot, for example, and the group is very excited about the pioneering aspects of this trek.

DEEP SCRUB DAY:  SUNDAY JULY 29, 2012

CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST  8:00AM TO 9:30AM:  Kitchen closes promptly at 9:30

 

EXTRA CABIN CLEANUP CHORES 9:30AM TO 11:00 AM

  • Pick up trash in a wide circle around the cabin.
  • Reorganize your trunks.
  • Remove gear and completely sweep under all beds.
  • Get all dry clothing off the line.
  • Change sheets and pillow cases.  Air out sleeping bags.
  • Take a shower, use soap and shampoo; clip nails, comb hair, clean clothing

 

CAMPUS CLEANUP CHORES  9:30AM TO 11:00AM

(The following assignments include sweeping/mopping, picking up trash, emptying trash cans and barrels at the dumpster, placing lost & found in the box.)

 

  • LAKEVIEW:  Mem Field and soccer field – rearrange benches, place loose gear in sheds, pick up litter plus bring lost & found to under the dining room
  • FIREPLACE:  Across the road:  rearrange benches, place loose gear in sheds, pick up litter plus bring lost & found to under the dining room
  • BUBBLER:  Pines Field – small trash and litter, gear that does not belong there.
  • KILN: Both  beaches  and the boat marina; not just raking but litter and organization of gear + playaks organized behind the rocks on the sand
  • SPORTS SHED:  2 baseball sheds and the golf shed:  Search the woods for balls. Tidy up and remove trash
  • ROADSIDE:   Check the van parking area for trash.  Check for debris plus lost and found inside the vans
  • HILLY 1:  Sweep the Roost and War Room.  Empty trash barrels in dumpster across the road.
  • PINES: The road in front of the main lodge all the way to the cookout area.  DETRASH everything including the cookout area and bottom of kitchen steps
  • HILLY 5:  Main Lodge – inside rooms swept and picked up; all ping-pong gear put away; board games stored in PA room; porch swept; all chairs and benches in proper places
  • HILLY 4:  Both porches of the dining room swept, gear to L&F or wherever; check for trash that blows off the porch
  • GUIDES:  Sweep campus for L&F.  Make a list of names to be read at meeting.  Toss out insignificant items such as dirty, nameless socks
  • BARN:  VISIT A CABIN OF YOUR CHOICE AND HELP WHERE NEEDED

 

CABIN MEETINGS 11:00AM TO 12:00 NOON

Please come to Camp Meeting ready to offer the best thoughts that came out of your cabin meeting today.  Campers and counselors may comment.

 

TODAY:     Please discuss the idea of happiness at camp.  Are you happier now than you were at the start of camp?  Why?  Why is it possible to be a bit homesick but still quite happy at the same time?
