What a beautiful day along the shores of Mother Tarleton. Everyone expected arrived on time, or even early. This allowed us to have our opening introduction session much more promptly than in years past. Several clever skits did a nice job of breaking the ice, and especially when one counselor kicked a soccer ball a tad off line and it would have belted me in the head had I not blocked the shot with my trusty camera. (That counselor, of course, is an instant hero!) Chicken patties and curly fries (duh) marked the initial dinner. I ignored both in favor of some spicy pasta and a generous salad from our varied bar. The first photo below was taken literally ten minutes ago as the boys were dismissed for cabin meetings up the hill. These gatherings are the most significant 40 minutes of the summer as the laws (simple ones, fair, and common sense based) are reviewed, boys learn one another’s names, and cabins do something as a group to start the ball rolling toward another wonderful session at camp.
