Kingswood DIASPORA

As a public service to our families, we offer an occasional vocabulary lesson.  Words are in capital letters, answers at bottom.  Note, too, that we start off with a few additions to last week’s installment –“Kingswood Around the Globe.”  Keep those pix coming along and we will find ways to get them into our Monday RANTS. … Read more

Kingswood Around the Globe

I have had a photo file named “Kingswood Around the Globe”  for quite some time.   I got the idea when Robin Ascher emailed me from China:  “We are here at the Great Wall but David says he’d rather be at Kingswood.”  So, when my friend Charles, a Kingswood parent, sent me a picture of son … Read more

A Busy Fall At Kingswood!

We are determined to have the best possible facility while still maintaining a rustic atmosphere. We are in the midst of some major projects which should improve everyone’s experience at camp. First of all, we are drastically improving the drainage around the Council Fire and Tramp Field so that they should never be muddy again. Goodbye minerals! … Read more

Ballgames!

Autumn is my favorite sports time of the year.  My teams in baseball and football are doing very well, thank you, and I probably will become sleep deprived as the baseball playoffs advance — hopefully with the Curly W crew deeply involved.  With sports contests in mind, therefore, I offer today’s report.

Thanks to the Parent Survey Responders

It really helps tremendously to receive feedback from our camp families.  Our list of “Ideas for 2015” was already a mile long, but now is about twice that, thanks to those who have completed the SurveyMonkey request.  Rob plans on resubmitting the questionnaire (which can be done in 10 seconds if you choose) some time … Read more

“Camp is Life”

Bow and Arrow Halftime Report

We’ve reached the halfway point of the Bow and Arrow Week competition and the boys are off to the Whale’s Tail Waterslide Park for a much deserved day off from their matches. This week is already one for the record books with every game being hotly contested and the lead cumulative score see-sawing back and … Read more

Bow & Arrow Competition Kickoff

The Bow and Arrow games are a major tradition here at Kingswood.  For the past week, unbeknownst to the campers, the B&A coaches have been observing them with intensity — not only for sports prowess but acting, music, chess playing, bocce and ping-pong skills have been judged, too. After some hilarious introductions, the boys and … Read more

Living Another Day in Paradise

Dumb subject title.  EVERY DAY is paradise at camp.  But, summer is starting to wane and one finds himself counting his blessings on days like this one.  Many boys have approached me in the past few days, all expressing a touch of chagrin over summer having passed so quickly.  Not that they don’t  look forward … Read more
